New Delhi, Sep 1: Union Home Minister P Chidambaram has taken up the issue of Nepal being a source of smuggling of counterfeit currency to India with the government of the neighbouring country and the matter would be discussed during the Home Secretary-level talks to be held in Kathmandu on November 6 to 7.
However, the Home Minister refused to comment on media reports about the involvement of former crown prince Paras in the fake currency racket saying that he had not got details about the reported confession of the criminal from Nepal apprehended in Madhya Pradesh yesterday.
Mr Chidambaram told mediapersons here that he had met Nepal Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal during his visit to New Delhi on August 20 to discuss issues of mutual concern and also met Nepal Home Minister Bhim Rawal at Kathmandu airport en-route to his trip to Bhutan recently.
”I met Mr Nepal and expressed concern over the counterfeit Indian currency coming through Nepal. However, I feel that these fake currency are not printed there but somewhere else,” he said.
